To the astonishment of the assembled guests, he proclaimed Cleek heir to the throne of Mauravania and urged him to return and accept the gift of a grateful people. Cleek came to a quick decision, informing the Royal Councilor that his Kingdom was in England, and that his newly-sworn allegiance to the queen of his heart would prevent him from taking advantage of the magnificent offer.
